Thirty years ago - 1982
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Roberts of Silver Creek recently returned from a four-week vacation in England and Norway. While there, they spent two weeks with each of their former American Field Service students and talked with crew members of the American Viking ship "Hjemkomst" in Norway. The ship, which voyaged across the Atlantic Ocean en route to Oslo, stopped in Dunkirk on its way through the Great Lakes.
Forty years ago - 1972
Walt Disney World, which opened near Orlando, Fla., last Oct. 1, welcomed its 10 millionth visitor. The lucky family, from Rensselaer, was given VIP treatment and a lifetime pass to the attraction.
Fifty years ago - 1962
Edward Sause of Washington Avenue, Dunkirk said today he is selling property he owns on Lake Shore Drive East to Weimer Chevrolet. The building, long vacant, will be razed and the lot filled in and leveled off for a parking area by the new owner.
