Carpenter leads Thunderbirds to victory

BUFFALO - Led by the rushing of Adam Carpenter, Chautauqua Lake opened the Class D football season successfully on Friday.

Carpenter gained 178 yards on 24 attempts while scoring twice on runs of 21 and 4 yards as the Thunderbirds defeated International Prep at Grover, 36-12.

Kyle Mayer tossed touchdown passes of 16 yards to A. J. Houlton and 30 yards to Jeremiah Russin. Ryan Miller added a 12-yard touchdown run and wound up with 95 yards rushing on 11 carries for the winners.

William Burgess ran for a 22-yard touchdown and Maye caught a 78 pass from Wilquan Burgess for I-Prep.
