Twenty years ago - 1992

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin W. Hilliker of 11601 York Road, Silver Creek recently visited their son, Midshipman Fourth Class Jesse W. Hilliker, during Parents' Weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Midshipman Hilliker is a 1992 graduate of Forestville Central School.

Thirty years ago - 1982

The Casino, a restaurant-arcade amusement center in Bemus Point, plans an all-out assault on the Guinness Book of World Records as it attempts to serve more than 10,000 chicken wings in one night. Operator Russell Fuscus said that while Guinness does not have a category for chicken wing cooking, he and his staff intend to establish one. The Casino already has been listed by Guinness. The first entry was in 1977, when Curt Micelli of Bemus Point, the wrestling coach at Maple Grove High School, set the record for most continuous hours of playing pinball - 200.

Forty years ago - 1972

Dr. Josef M. Powell, Fredonia veterinarian, will be part of a four-man county team which will be performing live surgery demonstrations on dogs at the New York State Fair. Dr. Donald Eno of Westfield will also be part of the team.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Dunkirk has joined the growing list of school systems in New York state that have expressed displeasure with the difficulty of the Regents exams given to summer school students last week.
