PORTLAND - 21 Brix Winery is pleased to announce the following upcoming events. On Friday, Sept. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m., the winery will be hosting their first 'Vine Dining' dinner and enjoy a four-course meal out by the vineyard. After tasting wine indoors and meeting the winemaker, move outdoors to the vineyard to enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by Niebel Catering. The menu includes two different brie dishes, a chicken teriyaki salad, and prime rib or salmon with heirloom potatoes followed by a chocolate roll-up with homemade chocolate mousse. On Saturday, Sept. 8, the winery will be hosting their first birthday party. Stop in between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and enjoy complimentary tastings (three per person), as well as appetizers and birthday cake. Vineyard walks will be held on three Saturdays this fall (Sept. 8, Sept. 29 and Oct. 13, 10 a.m.). See first-hand how the colors, aromas and tastes of the grapes change as harvest draws near. These vineyard walks will include discussions about grape farming, use of frost fans, harvesting grapes and how the vines and grapes change throughout the year. After the walk, move indoors where the end products are sampled. Appropriate footwear is required due to uneven terrain. Come stomp grapes just like Lucy and Ethel. Visit the winery for a friendly competition to see who can get the most juice from 35 pounds of Concord grapes. On Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., come to the winery and try your hand, or rather feet, at grape stomping. event includes hand-picking grapes, grape stomping, 6 tastings, a tour of the winery, and lunch. Call the winery to sign up for this memorable event. $66 per person, space is limited.
The last event in September will be the opening night of the winery's Wine Down music series. After a hectic and crazy work week, come "wine down" at 21 Brix Winery and listen to some music. Rob Vance, of North East, Pa., will be playing from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, some picnic food and a friend. If the weather is too chilly, we will be setting up indoors. This event is free, but a wine purchase is required, so enjoy a glass of wine or sip a slushie as you relax. 21 Brix Winery will be hosting the Wine Down music series the last Saturday of every month so mark your calendars.
