GOWANDA - Howard W. Miller, 64, of Foster Road passed away unexpectedly Saturday (Sept. 1, 2012) in the Emergency Room of the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville.
Born July 25, 1948 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Howard F. and Norma M. (Hill) Miller.
Howard married the former Cathy L. Holocinski in the St. Joseph's RC Church in Gowanda on Au-gust 10, 1968; Cathy survives. Howie and Cathy owned and operated the former M&H Sunoco on Sand Hill for nearly 20 years. After selling the garage, Howie was involved with various occupations in the area. At the time of his death Howie and his son Daniel ran Southtowns Cleanouts in Gowanda. Howie was also the proprietor of the former Depot Hotel now being run as Ye Olde Hotel boarding house also in Gowanda. Howie enjoyed his animals and through the years raised several on his property on Foster Road. Some of these animals included exotic pets such as llamas. Howard was a member of the Gowanda Moose and the Slovenian Club.
Besides Cathy, his wife of 44 years, Howie is survived by a daughter Shelly J. (Tim) Francis of Gowanda and a son Daniel (Michelle) Miller also of Gowanda. Howie loved his family and enjoyed being around all of them including his 10 grandchildren: Brent, Christian, Dalton, Ethan, Noah, Ashton, Lincoln, Danielle, Wyatt and Samantha.
Survivors also include four brothers: Thomas of Victor, NY, Michael (Sandra) of Collins, John (Jane) and Larry Miller all of South Dayton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda (716-532-4200) from 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Thursday (Sept. 6, 2012) at 11 a.m. from the Gowanda Free Methodist Church 149 West Main Street, Gowanda (gather at church). Interment to follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery (Zoar Road) Gowanda.
