Rose (Bennice) Miller

Rose (Bennice) Miller, age 88, of Dunkirk, NY, died peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Brooks Memorial Hospital.

Rose, daughter of the late Sarah and Joseph Bennice, was born on Valentine's Day 1924 in Brocton, NY. She attended Dunkirk High School and later in life worked for a period at Kraft Foods, but her life's focus was serving as the beloved matriarch of her growing family. Rose, known for her happy and carefree attitude, was the happiest when laughing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel and David Miller, and one daughter, Patricia Boris, all of Dunkirk, NY; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Bennice, of Virginia Beach, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer T. Miller; brother Frank Bennice; and sisters Anita Speziale Howard and Jay Amico.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Pulice will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dunkirk Free Library, 536 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
