OLEAN - The Fredonia Lady Hillbillies advanced to the championship game of the Olean Tournament with a victory over Ellicottville in girls' high school soccer action Wednesday.
The final score was 3-3, but the Lady Hillbillies were victorious in penalty kicks.
Morgan Genovese, Brigitte Boettcher and Nicole Woleben each scored for Fredonia during regulation. Kirsta Wheelock recorded an assist for the winners.
"The girls put in a very strong performance on offense and defense," Fredonia coach Cathy Cruver said. "The girls never gave up. I'm very proud of them."
Ellicottville's goals were scored by Emily Uhrinek (two goals) and Cam Musall.
In the penalty kicks, Fredonia received goals from Emily MacKinnon, Woleben and Boettcher.
Aleyna Szot was between the pipes for Fredonia in the first half and Bre Dahn played goalie for the second half and penalty kicks where she stopped two shots.
The Lady Hillbillies now face Jamestown in the championship game Friday at 5:15 p.m.

Maple?Grove 5, Cassadaga Valley 0
BEMUS POINT - The Maple Grove Lady Red Dragons (2-0, 1-0) blanked the Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars (0-2, 0-1), 5-0, Wednesday in a CCAA Division 2 girls' high school soccer contest.
Maple Grove's goals came from Pauge Sirwatka (two goals), Katie Thorson, Emma Franczak and Sarah Pardue.
Lauren Nickerson was the winning goalie with two saves while Kristi Zink made 13 stops in a losing effort.
