A Canadian man died in an accident on the Thruway Wednesday evening.
Local fire departments and State Police were called to an accident involving a tractor trailer on the I-90 East, west of the Dunkirk exit in the town of Pomfret just before 7 p.m.
A tractor trailer driven by John C. Odell, 63, of Niagara Falls, Ont., drifted from the right lane across the right shoulder and ended up striking a delineator at 6:55 p.m. The truck then continued through a culvert and came to rest inside the tree line on the south side of the Thruway.
Odell was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other passengers were traveling with Odell and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
At 10 p.m. State Police investigators were still on the scene.
The cause of the accident is pending investigation. Fredonia Fire Department and the Chautauqua County Coroner also responded to the scene.
