Twenty years ago - 1992
A reunion of retired nurses from Brooks Hospital was held at the Quality Inn Vineyard with 65 attending. Chairman Mary Galardo noted the response to the reunion was overwhelming, with guests from five states attending. Recipients of roses for most years of service were: Ruth Meyerink (42 years); Lorraine Mucha, Annabelle Reilly and Lucy Jankowski (40); Virginia Surlas (37); Irene Paige (31); and Frances Barbuto and Carrie Gawronski (26).
Thirty years ago - 1982
Calendar Girl for the month of September is Pamela J. Fote, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter A. Fote and a senior at Fredonia High School. Pamela is planning to attend college to pursue a career as an administrative secretary.
Forty years ago - 1972
Graduated Sept. 7 from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Barney A. Kuzara Jr. has left to begin studies at LaRoche College in Allison Park, Pa. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Kuzara Sr. of Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk.
Fifty years ago - 1962
An increase was noted recently in the number of persons receiving unemployment benefits in Northern Chautauqua County. A total of 955 persons received checks last week as opposed to 931 the previous week.
