CDBG meeting Thursday evening
The next city of Dunkirk Community Development Block Grant public meeting will take place at the Washington Park pavilion on Thursday at 6 p.m.
The city is seeking public input on the five-year plan that will cover 2013-2017.
Chamber directors meet this afternoon
Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce board of directors will meet today at 1 p.m. at the First Niagara Bank location on Central Avenue.
Those wishing to attend should enter at the back entrance and head to the second floor.

GED classes being offered in Westfield
GED classes are currently being offered in Westfield at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, located at 12 Elm Street.
The classes, which are being offered through Erie 2 BOCES, will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m, through Dec. 20.

John Hamels and Bill Drellow to appear on Senior Report
Senior Report with Reed Powers will have John Hamels and Bill Drellow as the guests on Saturday's television program.
Hamels and Drellow will talk about Irish music and history. The pair of musicians tour the local area.
The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities.
Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995.
The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest.
The guest is subject to change.
Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Forestville, Hanover, Irving and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19.
The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
Lakeshore Humane Society open house Saturday in Dunkirk
Lakeshore Humane Society will hold an open house for its new adoption center at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The society is looking forward to showing everyone the new facility and encourages the community to come and have lunch. Hot dogs, drinks and goodies will be available for a small donation, which will benefit the animals. A few surprises are planned as well. Come and meet the cats and kittens of Lakeshore Humane Society.

Brocton and Westfield Boards of Education
to meet on Sept. 20
The Brocton Central School Board of Education will hold a special joint Board of Education meeting with the Westfield Academy and Central School Board of Education on Sept. 20 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Brocton Central School auditorium.
The regular monthly Brocton Central School Board of Education meeting will follow this special meeting.
The purpose of this special meeting is to hear the plan being set forth by the consultant group hired to begin the consolidation study along with a discussion on an agreed timeline for the study.
CCIDA?board meeting scheduled Tuesday
The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Lawson Boat Center, 73 Lakeside Drive, Bemus Point.
Health Fair Sept. 29 in Westfield
St. Peter's will present its first Health Fair Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 12 Elm St., Westfield.
It will include lecturers, organizations, demonstrations, presentations, information and activities.
Guest speaker Pat Webdale will lecture on her personal tragedy and recovery.

Pomfret ZBA schedules properties for review
Town of Pomfret Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) has three properties slated for a Sept. 17 meeting to review use variance requests.
The ZBA will reconvene to review a use variance and area variance for Robert LeGrano, located at 9638 Seymour Street, Fredonia at 6 p.m.
A review of a special use permit and use variance request for James Langendorfer, located at 8066 Route 60, Cassadaga 14718 will take place at 6:30 p.m.
A review of a use variance and area variance request for David L. Penharlow, located at 9025 Spoden Road, Fredonia at 7:30 p.m
All meetings will be held at the Pomfret Town Hall, 9 Day St., Fredonia.
