Twenty years ago - 1992

The Bills were back on familiar ground last Sunday. They played before the home crowd against a team which didn't stand a chance. Their 40-7 thrashing of the Los Angeles Rams was reminiscent of many other games at Rich Stadium the past four seasons. No one has ever doubted the Bills' immense talent. Some would even argue they have the best group of players of any team in the NFL.

Thirty years ago - 1982

"Gigi," a purebred dachshund dog owned by Lucille Whitmore of Newport News, Va., recently received a letter from the U.S. Marine Corps thanking the animal for her interest in the Marine Corps. The letter, addressed to Ms. Gigi Whitmore, advised that she was too young at 13 for the service, but asked that she keep in touch. A computer error was responsible for the letter, officials said.

Forty years ago - 1972

Open training sessions will take place next week on the Fredonia college campus when the Buffalo Braves NBA basketball team begins its '72-'73 season. Team members include Randy Smith, Bob Kauffman, Fred Hilton, Elmore Smith and All-Star Bob McAdoo. Paul is the team owner and president.

Fifty years ago - 1962

The Rev. George Fandt, 32, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fandt of West Third Street, Dunkirk has been named the new minister of the Adams Memorial Unitarian Church, 600 Central Ave., Dunkirk.
