District Clerk Joelle Woodward announced tax collection for the district will begin on Sept. 15 for Cattaraugus and Chautauqua County residents and Sept. 17 for Erie County. Woodward explained the difference in days for the counties.

"The reason for the change between the two is because Erie County has a law that you cannot begin tax collection on a weekend," Woodward said.

Tax collection will be in Room 103 from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday as well as 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Payments can also be mailed to the school's lock box in the Gowanda post office.

Rinaldi said that Hillis Field was struck by lightning. The scoreboard, PA system was hit as well as some soundboard which were fried in the storm.

"We didn't find out until two weeks later because something really hit the field," he said. "The costs were minimal."

Rinaldi also said the new science wing was able to open for the beginning of school and students are currently inside the wing. An open house will be held at a later date.
