Adelyne Baldwin

Adelyne "Addie" (Carpenter) Baldwin, 89, passed away Sept. 6, 2012 in Syracuse, NY.

She was born May 28, 1923 in Dunkirk, NY, the daughter of Frank J. and Catherine Carpenter.

A graduate of Dunkirk High School and the Dunkirk Business Institute, Mrs. Baldwin was an office secretary for Chautauqua County Children's Bureau from 1941 to 1946.

She then was a legal secretary for attorneys Albert J. Foley and William B. Aular from 1946 to 1964 in Dunkirk.

She served as leader of the Senior Girl Scout Troop for two years and be-came the first director of the New Teen Age Club in Dunkirk for three years.

Mrs. Baldwin moved to Geneva, NY in July 1964 and was a legal secretary for the law firm of Bond, McDonald & Toole and then later for Frederick M. Toole until she retired in January 1988.

She was a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church. She was active in the community having been President of the Geneva Senior Citizens for three years, a volunteer at the Smith Opera House and Geneva General Hospital Auxiliary and Lobby Shop, a volunteer at the former Geneva Tourist Center at the Chamber of Commerce, Ontario County Office of the Aging, the Linden Street Exchange and an officer in the Geneva Women's Club since 1990.

She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband of 49 years, Peter, who died Jan. 18, 1994. She is survived by one son, John P. (Deborah) of Liverpool, NY; two grandsons, Keith and Jeffrey; one granddaughter, Kathleen; two sisters, Loretta C. Sage of Dunkirk, NY, and Phyllis C. Heukrath of Baldwinsville, NY; 12 nieces and nephews; and nine grand nieces and nephews. Contributions can be made to the charity of choice. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at the convenience of the family.
