JAMESTOWN - A Jamestown residence is in custody after surrendering to Jamestown police officers.
David R. Olson, 48, was observed by a patrol unit walking on Pennsylvania Avenue on Monday at about 12:50 a.m. Officers attempted to take him into custody for an outstanding warrant. Reportedly, he fled from the officer and ran inside the residence at 223 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Information was received that he had armed himself with a shotgun and was not going to come out peacefully. The Jamestown Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics Team and the Critical Incident Negotiations Team were activated.
After several hours of negotiations, Olson surrendered to officers at 9 a.m. and was taken into custody. Officers secured a shotgun from the scene. Olson was transported to the city jail where he was charged with the outstanding warrant and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
