Rylowicz, Strong win Sugar Hill league

Pictured are the winners of the Sugar Hill Dunkirk Moose Thursday Night Golf League. They are Mike Rylowicz and Jordan Strong. Listed are the final standings: Rylowicz/Strong 190, Mazurek/Winder 181, Kulig/Gloss 180, Mackowiak/Adams 179, Haight/Nicosia 175, Weidenhofer/Fote 174, Lesch/Gugino 167, Criscione/Heyden 165, Bauza/Bauza 163, Rugani/Mistretta 156.5, Karin/Karin 156, Nichols/DiPalo 155.

For Cassadaga, Jon Benedetto rushed for 103 yards which included the only touchdown of the game.

C.J. Kubera added 57 rushing yards for the Cougars. Defensively, Benedetto had eight tackles and Jacob Beebe had six tackles in the victory.

For Panama, Devyn Chase had 14 carries for 119 yards. Chris Hoch caused two fumbles and recovered one while Ben McFarren and Hoch were the leading tacklers.

The Monarchs (2-1) scored early and often, pounding out 14 hits

Charlie Roth (three runs) and Noah Fleckenstein (two runs) led the hit parade with three each while Daniel Barnes (two runs), Bryan Dempsey and Jack Penharlow (two runs) each collected two hits.

Barnes, Fleckenstein and Roth shared the pitching load in the win, collectively allowing one hit and striking out 11. The Purple and Gold hit the road this week, at St. Peter & Paul and Nativity on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.

Fredonia All Sports Booster Club

The Fredonia All Sports Booster Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19 in room 600 at the Fredonia High School.

All teachers, parents and coaches are encouraged to attend.

Bills Tailgate Party

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Team Lucky 777 will host a tailgate party Sept. 23 on the Dunkirk City Pier at the Boardwalk starting at noon for the Buffalo Bills vs. Cleveland Browns game.

The team has put together a large Chinese auction with over 175 prizes. Some of the prizes include an American Girl doll, a boy's bicycle, home surround system, hotel rooms, outdoor furniture, weed wacker, cordless drill and many more items. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, children's games, raffles and food. All this will be going on along with watching the game on big screen TV's.

All money from this event will go to the American Cancer Society.

Chautauqua Health and Fitness Exercise Classes

Chautauqua Health and Fitness, located in the Turner Community Center at Chautauqua Institution on Route 394, is offering several group exercise classes beginning in October. Group exercise classes include pilates conditioning, fitness, yoga, kickboxing, belly dancing, an introduction to ballroom dancing, and a water workout class in the Turner Community Pool. Classes will run for nine weeks, beginning Oct. 15. Saturday swim programs through the American Red Cross, including Parent and Child Aquatics and Learn-to-Swim classes, begin Oct. 13. Chautauqua Health and Fitness is currently offering a special one-year membership at a discounted rate, effective Oct. 1, 2012, through Oct. 1, 2013. Cassadaga Football Pig Roast Fundraiser

Feegan's Witch Kitch will be hosting a pig roast on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 1-8 p.m. to benefit the Cassadaga Midget Football program. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Please call the Witch Kitch at 962-8333 with questions or for tickets. Tickets will also be available the day of the event.

Dunkirk Fitness Center

The Dunkirk City School District opened its new fitness center, located at Dunkirk High School, on Monday.

For faculty, staff and district residents, rates will be:

Single: $10 per month/$120 per year.

2-person: $15 per month/$180 per year.

District senior citizens ages 62 and up will be allowed free use of the facility. Proof of residency and verification of age is required for senior citizen discount.

The above fees can be paid at the first session attended by the participant or at the Business Office during school hours.

The fitness center will be open to the public:

Monday through Friday: 6:00 - 7:45 a.m.

Monday through Friday: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Saturday: 8:00 - 11:00 a.m.

No one under the age of 18 and no interscholastic team members will be allowed during the above public hours.
