Twenty years ago - 1992
A farewell party was held for Louis G. Leone at his home on Carol Avenue in Fredonia, with 50 guests attending. Mr. Leone is the lead singer of the alternative-dance rock group called Grenadine, which will be touring the western United States. A recent graduate of the University of Dayton in Ohio, Mr. Leone earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology.
Thirty years ago - 1982
Boy Scout Troop 256, which was reorganized in Fredonia in 1979, recently held ceremonies where the rank of Eagle Scout, Scouting's highest honor, was presented to Denis J. Budniewski, Robert B. Graham III and Michael D. Liener. An Award of Merit was presented to each Eagle Scout from Congressman Stanley Lundine.
Forty years ago - 1972
Nine lettermen have returned to the Cardinal Mindszenty High School football squad. Returnees include Gene Barter, Mark Crawford, Joe Scaglione, Mike Gawronski, Tim Noecker, Mike Burley, Kevin Schindler, John Buenzli and Terry Burns. Bob Muscato is the head coach, assisted by Pat Bailey and John Messina.
Fifty years ago - 1962
"Pomfrettes" is the name of a women's group recently organized to aid the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce and to assist in the development and preservation of historical sites in the town of Pomfret and village of Fredonia.
