WESTFIELD - The Westfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is preparing to host its annual meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m.
The meeting will be held in the hospital dining room and a light dinner will be served. Included in the business meeting will be an annual report by President Marjory Fritz and an election of Auxiliary Board Directors.
An enlightening and informative program will be presented to those in attendance. The auxiliary is pleased and appreciative to have Shauna Anderson as the speaker. She is currently the Vice President of Operations of Chautauqua County Hospice. She will talk about her years of experience in nursing, healthcare and Hospice.
The auxiliary has sponsored many fundraisers and community projects in the past year. Included in their fundraisers were the spring event and luncheon at the Athenaeum Hotel in Chautauqua, the annual and successful pie booth at the Westfield Arts and Crafts Festival, the sale of ceramic ornaments and magnets depicting scenes in the Westfield area and a lottery tree.
These fundraisers enabled the auxiliary to pursue and complete many projects within the hospital. Their goal of updating and refurbishing the main lobby was reached. In addition, new furniture and accessories have transformed the lobby to welcome visitors and patients. The surgical, the Emergency Department and the radiology waiting rooms and the Women's Wellness Suite have all been completely updated. The auxiliary is proud of these accomplishments and invites the community to view these improvements.
In addition to the fundraisers, the auxiliary sponsors the Walk for Wellness which is held in September with proceeds to assist the Cardiac Rehab Department in the purchase of needed exercise and other equipment.
Other community outreach projects included blood pressure screenings and the distribution of File of Life plastic identification cards for emergency and medical situations. Most recently, the auxiliary partnered with Brocton Central School to teach the second and third graders about healthy eating and the new My Plate guidelines.
This meeting is open to all auxiliary members and they will also receive letters announcing the meeting. An RSVP is requested. The auxiliary welcomes all community members to join the auxiliary and become involved in the commitment to promote Westfield Memorial Hospital.
