Undefeated Olean sweeps young Lady Hillbillies

Maddie Crandall's 12 assists and two kills were not enough as the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (0-3, 1-6) fell to Olean (3-0, 6-0), 22-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-23, Monday in CCAA Division 1 girls' high school volleyball.

"Olean is just a really good team," Fredonia coach Chris Anderson said. "It was a good volleyball game and fun to watch. We have a young team, but we are starting to pick it up. When we look good, we look really good."

Emily Ludwig added five kills and two blocks while Margaret Wright finished with three kills and 18 digs in a losing effort.

The Lady Huskies were led by Bre Spears' 42 assists and 17 digs and Janelle Shaffer's 14 kills and three aces.

Fredonia returns to action Friday when it looks for its first league win at Jamestown.

Falconer 25 22 25 25

Gowanda 23 25 17 22

GOWANDA - Kalynn Swanson's 55 assists helped Falconer (4-1, 3-0) stay perfect in CCAA Division 1 girls' volleyball play Wednesday, as the Lady Golden Falcons topped the Gowanda Lady Panthers (2-3, 2-2) in four sets, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22.

Shannon Gunnell added 15 kills, Makalia Haveron 47 digs and two aces and Alyssa Brooks 13 kills in the win for Falconer.

For Gowanda, Jen Stebbins had 13 digs, 11 kills and an ace, Lexi Farner had nine blocks, five digs, two kills and two assists while C.J. Sawatis had 11 assists, 10 digs , five kills and two blocks.

Division 2

Silver Creek 25 25 25

Salamanca 22 20 19

SILVER CREEK - Cora Utegg's 23 assists, four kills and three blocks lifted the Silver Creek Black Knights (2-5, 1-5) to their first CCAA Division 2 victory of the season with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-19 win over Salamanca (0-6) on Wednesday.

Jordan Brooks added seven kills and six blocks and Allison Harford charted five kills, three blocks and seven digs for the winners.

Elizabeth Stehlman finished with four kills, 14 digs and four blocks. Taylor Sullivan added two kills, eight assists and five blocks in a losing effort.

Silver Creek hosts Randolph on Monday.

Randolph 25 25 25

Cassadaga Valley 9 21 9

SINCLAIRVILLE - McKenna Maycock led the way when Randolph (5-1, 6-3) defeated Cassadaga Valley (2-4, 3-4), 25-9, 25-21, 25-9, in CCAA Division 2 girls volleyball Wednesday night.

Maycock had 19 kills and four aces, Mandy Fitch eight kills, Peyton Terrette 15 assists and her sister Alexis Terrette 12 assists in the win.

Shawana Miller recorded seven kills and two assists and Mya Sischo 19 assists for Cassadaga Valley.
