Frances Mary Palermo Abata, age 91, a lifetime resident of North East, PA, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Twin-brook Medical Center.
She was born on June 2, 1921 in North East, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Barone Palermo.
Frances graduated from North East High School and was formerly employed at Heritage Wine Cellars, Croot's Clothing Store, and The Villager Clothing Store in North East.

She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church.
Frances enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony (Tony) Abata; brothers Frank, Joseph, and Sam Palermo; sisters Mary Verdoni, Louise Palermo, and Connie Lodestro; grandson, Christopher McGaughey; granddaughter, Frances Mary McGaughey.
She is survived by daughters, Ellen McGaughey (Robert) of Fredonia, NY and Linda Denslinger (John) of Atlanta, GA; son Anthony Abata (Susan) of West Chester, PA; grandchildren, Ann Philion of Montreal, Ryan McGaughey of AZ, Eric Denslinger of FL, Andrew Denslinger of Germany, and Kevin Denslinger of GA; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brett, and Tyler Philion, Evan and Megan Denslinger; brother-in-law, Fr. Russell Abata C.SS.R. of New York City; sisters-in-law, Virginia Abata of North East and Ellen Abata of AZ; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home 65 South Lake Street North East on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend a prayer service on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church.
