Wednesday Travel League - Ron Rys shot the low round of 78 at Shorewood Country Club to successfully defend his New York Open Crown in the league's final grand slam event. Rys edged Dave Mathews by one stroke and in the process earned his 20th career tour victory. Joe Michalski finished third with 82. Rys led the front nine with 37 while Mathews led the back nine with 37. In the B Flight, Bill Aldrich won on a tiebreaker over Pete Gawron, Bob Thompson and John Tofil. Jim Szalkowski and Bob Layman won the C and D Flights, respectively. Winner of the Commissioner's Award was Joe Bifaro. In the match for the Commissioner's Cup, Bruce Chrabasz edged Lee Titus on total score. Fredonia Little League
Fredonia Little League will be holding elections of officers Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. This is an open election. Anyone interested in being part of the FLL board should attend. The public is invited.
