An OBSERVER photo show Cassadaga Historian Record Barris as he poses at the grave of Jarvis Wilcox, one of the individuals interred in the oldest section of the Cassadaga Cemetery. Mr. Wilcox drowned 140 years ago while helping to save the lives of the young people aboard a boat he was piloting on Cassadaga Lakes.

Dr. Diane Pennica, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Pennica of Berry Road, Fredonia recently addressed the Sixth International Congress on Fibrinolysis in Laussane, Switzerland. A 1973 Fredonia State University College alumna, Dr. Pennica is a scientist at Genentech Inc. in San Francisco. She discussed genetic engineering methods being used to produce a new enzyme which may improve therapy for dissolving blood clots.
