Flag replacement ceremony Sept. 29

A Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held at the Dunkirk Firemans Training Grounds Saturday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. by the Dunkirk Memorial and Acquavia American Legion Posts. Any soiled and unserviceable American Flags will be properly disposed at this event. The public is invited to bring their flags for disposal or they can also be dropped off at the Dunkirk Memorial Post 62, 211 Central Ave. or the Acquavia Post 1344 on Lake Shore Drive prior to this date.

Pomfret Assessor closed Tuesday

The Town of Pomfret's Assessor's Office will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 25 for staff training. The office will reopen for regular hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Brad Anderson Recognition meeting Tuesday

The committee planning the Brad Anderson and Marmaduke statues will meet Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Portland Town Hall at 6 p.m., 87 W. Main St., Brocton. New ideas are welcome.

Upcoming blood drives

Community Blood Bank will be holding several blood drives in the area to help local patients.

Monday, Sept. 24 at Lake Shore Health Care from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Cherry Creek Fire Dept from 3 to 9 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 27 at Westfield Memorial Hospital from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All donors will be entered into a chance to win a pair of Buffalo Bills versus Miami Dolphins football game tickets.
