CLYMER SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT MURDERED

September 24, 2012
The OBSERVER

CLYMER, N.Y. (AP) - The school superintendent of a small western New York town has been found fatally shot at his home in what authorities say is an apparent homicide.

Officials in the Chautauqua County town of Clymer say they were stunned to learn Monday of the death of Superintendent Keith Reed Jr.

The sheriff's office is releasing little information, only confirming to media outlets that he'd apparently been shot more than once.

Reed has been superintendent of the district and its 468 students since November 2011. Principal Ed Bailey says Reed was well-liked and that he's shocked by news of his death.

Clymer is a rural, agricultural community of about 1,500 people in the southwest corner of New York, near the Pennsylvania border.
