Springville 5, Dunkirk 1
SPRINGVILLE - A disallowed goal took away any momentum Dunkirk (0-6) had in the second half as the Lady Marauders fell to Springville, 5-1, Monday in a non-league girls' soccer game.
After Springville jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, Kyle Bentley got Dunkirk within one with her goal early in the second half.
It appeared the Lady Marauders had tied the game soon after, but the goal was called back as it wasn't definitive if the ball crossed the goal line.
"It kind of deflated the girls' spirits," Dunkirk coach Phil Cook admitted.
Springville took over from there with three unanswered goals.
Alena Wooderek scored three goals while Tiana Wooderek added a pair for the Lady Griffins.
"They're their whole offense," Cook said of the Wooderek girls. "Between the two of them they have 25 goals for the season. We did a great job in the second half keeping them under control."
Janelle Jasinski made six saves for Dunkirk in the loss.
