Michael and Diane Sedlacek, of 36 N. Ocelot St, have been named Rising Star winners for August. Home Depot Operations Manager Rick Cole presented a $100 gift card to the Sedlaceks for their home improvement efforts.
Their home makeover began with the replacement of their roof which was followed with the installation of blue vinyl siding with white trim. The home was then finished off with new windows, storm doors and exterior lighting.
The Rising Star program was created to promote and recognize city of Dunkirk property owners who make significant exterior improvements to existing residential homes, which in turn helps to elevate the image of city neighborhoods.

Each month through October, a $100 gift certificate will be presented to the winning property owner. Program guidelines and nomination forms are available from the City Clerk's office and the following Rising Star sponsors: Add Lumber, Bargain Outlet, Service Hardware and the Home Depot. All exterior home improvements will be considered and residents are encouraged to apply.
