David A. Fancher, 76, of Silver Creek passed away Thursday (September 27, 2012) at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.
He was born June 18, 1936 in Silver Creek, the son of the late Allen R. and Florence (Waite) Fancher.
A lifelong area resident, Dave graduated from Forestville High School, class of 1954. He continued his education at Fredonia State, graduating in 1958 with a degree in education. Dave taught 7th grade science for 37 years, retiring from Lake Shore Central School.

He married the former Rebecca Geraci in 1959 and together they raised three children, enjoying 52 years of marriage.
Dave was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Silver Creek, also served on the vestry and the Dunkirk Moose.
Dave was an avid card player, a die hard Buffalo Sabres fan, he enjoyed reading, discussing politics, had an incredible sense of humor, played the trumpet, liked listening to R&B music and attending the theater. He sang to his grandchildren and whistled all the time, a Renaissance man who especially loved his family.
Dave is survived by his wife, Rebecca E. Fancher; two sons, Bret A. Fancher of Almond, N.Y. and David C. (Timothi) Fancher of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Kathleen M. Fancher (Michael Scheunemann) of Kingston, N.Y.; a sister, Lynda Rook of Bradford, Pa.; six grandchildren, Abigail and Alison Fancher, Jackson, David and Milan Jordan-Fancher and Lilah Sophia Scheunemann.
Dave was predeceased by his parents.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. from St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 4 Lake Ave., Silver Creek, N.Y.
