Rob Dillenburg of Sheridan, the Chautauqua County demolition derby champion, recently competed in the Labor Day demolition derby state finals at the New York State Fair in Syracuse. He finished seventh out of a field of 36, and was accompanied by members of his family and several friends.

Thirty years ago - 1982

The installation of the Rev. Rodney E. Houck as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Fredonia took place Sept. 19. Raised in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, the Rev. Houck earned his master's degree in theology from Union Seminary in New York City and was ordained by the then Presbytery of New York on June 9, 1960.

Forty years ago - 1972

Chautauqua County Sheriff Merle A. Campaign announced he has instituted a work-release program for sentenced inmates of the county jail in Mayville.

Fifty years ago 1962

Pontillo's Pizzeria is the name of the new pizza restaurant opening soon at the northwest corner of Central and Howard avenues in Dunkirk.
