Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office
The sheriff's office received a complaint about an erratic operator on I-86 in Sherman. At 6:35 p.m. sheriff's patrol located this vehicle on Route 430 in the Town of Chautauqua.
The vehicle was driving at speeds so slow that the flow of traffic was being impeded, and the vehicle failed to stay on the right side of the roadway. This vehicle also failed to stop when directed to pull over.
Eventually the deputy was able to stop the car and interview the driver.
Upon further investigation, the driver, Roxanne Terry, 46, of Erie, Pa., was charged with impeding the flow of traffic, failing to keep right, failing to comply with a lawful order and driving while intoxicated.
Terry was arraigned in Town of Chautauqua Court and remanded to the County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
Around 12:35 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle make a wide right turn on to Valley Street. This vehicle also was alleged to be speeding.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Jennifer L. Brown, 35, of Mayville.
Upon further investigation Brown was taken into custody and issued tickets. She will appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court.
Dunkirk man charged with DWI
SILVER CREEK - Sun-day at 1:50 a.m., Jason Sack, 38, of Harrington Road in Dunkirk was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, aggravated unlicensed operation and unregistered vehicle.
Deputies stopped Sack originally for an expired registration. They report he was also intoxicated and driving on a suspended license. Sack was issued tickets for the charges and is scheduled to appear in the Silver Creek Village Court.
More than $7,500 raised for Special Olympics
On Sept. 20, Special Olympics and law enforcement teamed up with Applebee's statewide to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics New York. As an organization, Special Olympics would like to thank all those patrons that came to support the organization.. In a 3-hour span, with the 12 participating stores in the area, $7,572 was raised to benefit the 55,698 athletes of Special Olympics New York. The East Fairmount location in Lakewood was responsible for raising $633, the most that location has ever raised in the nearly four years history of this event. A special thank you goes to the New York State Police who participated at this Applebee's location.
In all, law enforcement joined together along with the staff at the 12 Applebee's restaurants to greet customers, bus tables, and serve guests. In return, officers hope to collect tips from diners to benefit Special Olympics New York and the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
