Area man charged with sexual act against child

On Wednesday, state police at Jamestown released information that Douglas E. Nelson of Falconer and Greenhurst was charged with second-degree criminal sexual act, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The report said he was charged on Sept. 25. Nelson was arraigned in the Town of Ellington Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 property bail.

It is alleged that the defendant had inappropriate relationships with children in Chautauqua County and surrounding areas.

Investigation is continuing in an attempt to identify any other children who may have had contact with Nelson.

New York State Police are encouraging parents and guardians to discuss this matter with their children in an effort to assist in identifying other witnesses or victims.
