Cortland remained unbeaten in the SUNYAC with a 2-0 women's soccer win Saturday over Fredonia State at University Stadium.

Second-half goals by Rachel Parker and Jenny Angione and shutout goalkeeping by Taylor Hudson lifted the Red Dragons to their fifth SUNYAC wins in six games. Their only other game was a 1-1 tie Friday at Buffalo State.
In addition to their 5-0-1 conference record, the Red Dragons are 8-2-3 overall.
The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 8-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the SUNYAC. They earned a weekend split of their two SUNYAC home games, including a 3-1 win Friday over Oswego.
The Blue Devils return to action next Friday at Plattsburgh, followed by a visit to Potsdam next Saturday.
Blue Devil sophomore Maggie, normally a midfielder, was pressed into service as goalkeeper for the second straight day in place of injured started Meaghan Meszaros. Horan made four saves against Cortland, two in each half.
At the other end, Hudson finished with seven saves. She saved her best one for last, a leaping one-handed deflection over the top of the net on a blast from 30-yards out by Blue Devil junior midfielder Katie Kleine.
Parker scored the game's first goal, at 64:41, when she drilled a shot into the upper right portion of the net from 30-yards away. She also assisted on Angione's goal, a short one-timer, at 79:09.
CORTLAND - Tyler Williams and Mike Schreiner combined to lead Fredonia State over Cortland, 1-0, in SUNYAC men's soccer Saturday.
"Cortland was No. 1 in the SUNYAC," Fredonia State coach P.J. Gondek pointed out. "And we were in Cortland, so winning there was a pretty big win for us."
Williams scored the game's only goal, his third of the season. Slidng toward the left post, he one-touched it into the opposite corner of the net.
Patrick Schuber was credited with an assist.
"It was a total team effort," Gondek added. "We lost to Oswego (Friday) so I was a little worried about how we'd come out in this game, but the guys really responded."
Schreiner was the Blue Devil goalkeeper. He made four saves to earn his third shutout of the season.
It was the first SUNYAC loss for Cortland, which fell to 4-1-1 in the conference and 6-5-1 overall.
"We knew we absolutely had to have this game," Gondek said. "Now we're right in the mix of top teams in the conference. It was a dire situation and we were able to come through."
The Blue Devils improved to 3-2 in the SUNYAC and 4-10 overall. They return home to meet Plattsburgh next Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a Saturday afternoon home game vs. Potsdam.
"Since we're home we'll be looking for the sweep," Gondek noted of next weekend. "It's certainly another huge weekend for us."

Cortland drops Fredonia State at SUNYAC Tournament
BINGHAMTON - Fredonia State sophomore Stephanie Thompson won both her matches Saturday during the Blue Devils' 7-2 women's tennis loss to Cortland at the SUNYAC Tournament.
Thompson first-teamed wth junior Jess Johnston (Fredonia) to win their No. 3 doubles match, 8-2, over Cortland's Janette O'Keefe and Mary Claire Kopcienski.
Thompson then took out Jaclyn Cartwright, 6-0, 6-0, in their No. 3 singles match.
Johnston put up a solid singles effort, too, before falling 6-1, 5-7 (10-4) to Shannon Grodotzke at No. 3.
The Blue Devils (7-4) close out their season Sunday at 8 a.m. in the seventh/eighth place match at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
