aTwenty years ago - 1992

Forestville area residents took the opportunity of a special school meeting to proclaim their school and community spirit. More than 50 persons attended the meeting called by the school board after receiving a request for a feasibility study to consider merger of the district with Silver Creek. There was no support among board members for the study.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Donivan, a member of the State Police K-9 Corps, was the "partner" of Trooper Gary Kubasiak, 32, of Gowanda who was killed recently while answering a domestic dispute in Gowanda. A decision has been made to retire Donivan so that he can remain with the Kubasiak family. Donivan was named for a state policeman slain on duty in 1923.

Forty years ago - 1972

Perry F. Reininga of Shore Acres, Dunkirk president of the George H. Graf & Co. Inc. has been elected to the board of the New York State Council of Retail Merchants.

Fifty years ago - 1962

The Calendar Girl for the Month of October is Beverly Manuel, a senior at Cardinal Mindszenty High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Manuel, 31 Cleveland Ave., Fredonia.
