Two Cattaraugus County voter registration days scheduled this week

October 9, 2012
The OBSERVER

LITTLE VALLEY - Cattaraugus County Election Commissioners Sue A. Fries and Kevin C. Burleson have set local registration days for the county for the purpose of voter registration for the General Election to be held Nov. 6.

New York State Election Law requires that in presidential election years boards of election hold two voter registration days. This allows an additional opportunity for persons eligible to vote but not yet registered to do so. It also affords a convenient way for those persons who have moved but not yet notified the board of elections to complete the change.

Registration hours are set on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. All districts can register at the county board of elections office at 302 Court St., Little Valley (across from the courthouse/jail).

The last day to register to vote by U.S. Mail is Friday. Voter registration forms must be postmarked on or before Friday for citizens to be eligible to vote on Nov. 6. Registration forms may be downloaded from the internet at www.cattco.org under the Board of Elections link. Each voter must provide either a driver's license number or the last four digits of his or her social security number for identity verification if he or she is a new registrant.

Teens who will be 18 on or before Nov. 6 must pre-register before Friday.

For further information, contact the board of elections at 938-9111 ext. 2400-2405, or in the Olean area, 373-8010 ext. 2400-2405.
