Thanks to Al Seavy and Terri Selig, a historic hotel and landmark is open again in Brocton.
The St. Stephen Hotel at 2 W. Main St. in the village has undergone a remarkable transformation. Seavy told OBSERVER staff writer Samantha McDonnell that he and Selig removed debris from the second and third-floor of the building that remained from a 1950s fire and also restored the staircase.
"We couldn't see anything else getting torn down in Brocton so we thought we'd try to save it (and) get it back up and running," Seavy said.
Efforts by the couple are impressive - and welcome by the struggling village. Seavy thanked many, including Brocton officials and neighboring businesses, for their assistance in getting the hotel back in business.
He and Selig also deserve the community's appreciation.
