Scott and Beth Chrispen Benefit to be held Sunday

A benefit to help defray medical costs for Scott and Beth Chrispen will be held Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. at the St. Stephen Hotel, 2 W. Main St., Brocton.

A spaghetti and meatball dinner which will include salad, bread, juice or coffee and dessert.

Tickets are $10. A 32 inch TV will be raffled off as well as a silent auction and 50/50 drawing.

The dinner is sponsored by ABATE of Chautauqua and Friends of Scott and Beth.

Scott and Beth of Brocton were injured in a motorcycle accident on Sept. 3 in Pennsylvania.

Beth sustained serious injuries and will be undergoing extensive rehabilitation.

Scott's injuries were less serious but he stayed by his wife's side while she was in the hospital.

Lakeshore Humane Society holds Pet Adoption Day

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold the first adoption day at its new Adoption Center on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. The center is located at 431 E. Chestnut Street, Dunkirk.

It is also "Mini-Panther Day." Adopt a black, black and white, black tuxedo, or black tortoiseshell cat or kitten on that day and receive 1/3 off of the regular adoption fee of $60.

This adoption fee includes all animals' initial shots (distemper/leukemia and rabies) and the spay/neuter costs.

Come to the Adoption Day to meet some of the many orphaned animals who need to go home to caring owners. See www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org or call 672-1991 for any questions.

Sheridan Town Board meeting change

The Sheridan Town Board will hold its regular meeting on Oct. 18 in the Fire Hall at 7:30 p.m.

However the tentative budget will not be presented to the board at this meeting.

Due to the change the town board's November meeting will be held a week early on Nov. 8.

There will be a public hearing at this meeting to present the budget.

The times of the public hearing and Nov. 8 meeting will be announced at the Oct. 18 meeting.

County Board of Health meets Oct. 18

The Chautauqua County Board of Health will hold its meeting on Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. in the HRC Building 4th Floor Conference Room, Mayville.

Anyone seeking further information or wishing to attend this meeting should call the Public Health Director's Office at 753-4314.

Gowanda area neighborhood watch to meet

The next meeting of the Gowanda area neighborhood watch will be on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the board room in Village Hall, 27 East Main St., Gowanda.

The group will be planning patrol hours for Halloween. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Lottery scarecrow winner announced

Beth Benchley was the winner of the lottery Scarecrow from the Forestville Fall Festival.
