It is time for residents to put the power in their hands.
This week, members of the NRG Energy Inc. work force and Power Up Western New York coalition members are going from business to business in Dunkirk and Fredonia with petitions. Those petitions are for residents to sign if they believe community partner NRG - with an impact of $40 million to this economy annually - should upgrade from a coal to natural-gas provider of electricity.
This is an urgent matter. The community partner not only provides high-paying jobs to 70 employees, it also is a large contributor to the non-profit community and the city and county tax base.
So, if you see the petition at area businesses - and there is one at the OBSERVER - do not hesitate. Sign it.
