Rubin wins two as Lady T’birds down?Lady Billies

MAYVILLE - Chautauqua Lake's Sofia Rubin won a pair of events to help the Lady Thunderbirds swim past the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies, 109-74, Tuesday, during CCAA Division 1 girls' swimming, in Mayville.

Rubin won both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, in respective times of :27.72 and 1:02.25, while helping the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams to first-place finishes. The 200 team of Kara Tenpas, Jenna Wiemer, Abbey Jantzi and Rubin touched the wall first in a time of 2:10.79, while the 200 freestyle relay team earned first with its time of 1:54.94. Joining Rubin were Ashley Moulton, Hannah Auflick and Jantzi.

Also for Chautauqua Lake, Abigail Jopek was first in the 200 freestyle (2:29.89), Jantzi took home the top spot in the 100 butterfly (1:14.98) and Tenpas was first in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in a time of 1:13.85.

For the Lady Hillbillies, Katie Webster took first in both the 200 IM (2:35.61) and the 100 breaststroke (1:18.80) while teammate Shelby Przybysz took first in the 500 freestyle in a time of 6:58.75. Victoria Pucci-Shaefer won the 1-meter diving event for Fredonia, finishing with a score of 127.27.
