Gertrude V. Kordon, 92, of Dunkirk, died Tuesday morning October16, 2012, at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. She was born June 9,
1920, in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Alex and Frances (Malkowiak) Dombrowski. A past employee of the former Van Raalte Corporation in Dunkirk. Her memberships include Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Surviving are her children Charles (Rose Ann) Kordon of Nashville, Tenn., Philip (Mary) Kordon of Forestville, Donna (Terry) Collins of Mentor, Ohio, Donald Kordon of Dunkirk; sisters Genevieve Mleczko and Esther Skrzypek, both of Dunkirk; five grandchildren Charlotte, Chuckie, Jessica, Alyssa, and Shannon; three great-grandchildren Jessie, Cailie and Chelsei; and with several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death in addition to her parents areher husband Anthony Kordon who died in 1975; grandson Shane Moore; granddaughter Gina Marie Kordon; sisters Dorothy Pachol, Clara Halpainy, Rose Kaus, Cecelia Cybulski, Marie Parks; brothers John, Eugene, Alex, Walt, Felix (Phil) Dombrowski. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery.
