GOWANDA - The Gowanda Central School District has a clean external audit. Wayne Rishell from Buffamante, Whipple and Buttafaro, P.C. presented the audit at a recent board meeting.
Rishell said the audit was clean and the financial statements were in order for the district. The only problem for the district was due to internal affairs. The New York State Department of Education expects reports from the district in one version, while auditors are looking for an alternate version.
"This a little bit of a catch-22. Since this report is going to the state, the version in there is the version they expect to see but then we as auditors insist on the other version," Rishell said.

This was not a significant audit adjustment and nothing else needed to be reported. Rishell and his company went through three audit reports for the district and nothing came to their attention.
"We commend you as a district for having solid internal controls and checks and balances in place," Rishell said.
Rishell also applauded the school's lunch program for being "very well managed." The school lunch program uses less than 1 percent of the budget.
Erin Kelly and Laura A. Miller were approved as substitute teachers, Sylvia Joslin was approved as a substitute food service helper, Debbie Wells was approved as a substitute school monitor in the transportation department.
