Editor, OBSERVER:
I wish to publicly thank the city of Dunkirk Drug Court, Judge Walter Drag, and Lee Ann Lazarony for the Beacon of Hope Award: Hope is what Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy gives people.
This award should go to all the brave people who have put themselves on the line each week to learn more about themselves and addiction, thus changing their thinking, feelings and behaviors by thinking about issues in a more rational manner.
Finally, I have been a part of Drug Courts for the past 20 years and have seen the great results that can be accomplished if clients realize they could be sitting in jail without any treatment. On behalf of all the clinically dependent people that still suffer without treatment, this beacon of hope may guide them to treatment and a better life.
I also wish to thank Father Joe of Holy Trinity Parish for allowing us use of the Parish Center each Thursday night at 7 p.m.
