OLEAN - Assemblyman Joseph M. Giglio (R,C,I Gowanda) received the endorsement of Unshackle Upstate, a bipartisan organization focused on making state government more accountable to taxpayers.
The Unshackle Upstate business alliance based the rankings on legislative votes, budget votes and sponsorship of bills either supported or opposed by the group.
The endorsement was based on information gathered during a comprehensive process that combined the organization's
Legislative Scorecards, candidate questionnaire responses and interviews, as well as input from regional business leaders.
Unshackle Upstate identified many issues that are important to taxpayers and businesses in the state, including manufacturers job incentives, spending control and mandate relief.
"New York is at a crossroads and needs representatives like Assemblyman Giglio, who understand that we need to create more private sector jobs," Brian Sampson, Executive Director of Unshackle Upstate said. "We believe that Assemblyman Giglio understands the need to reduce restrictions on employers so that we can create jobs and return New York to the Empire State. He understands that we cannot saddle our local governments with more mandates that will do nothing but hurt taxpayers and delay our recovery.
"We need leaders that are willing to make good decisions and take tough votes. We need Assemblyman Giglio back in Albany."
