OBSERVER Staff Report , The OBSERVER

Jon Saeli and Aidan Lang each scored a pair of goals as Fredonia rolled over Portville, 4-0, Friday in a non-league soccer game at Fredonia Central School.

Saeli's first goal came just 1:30 into the game off an assist from Matt Civilette and was followed by a barrage of Fredonia goals.

Before the first eight minutes had ticked off the clock, the Hillbillies held a 3-0 lead.

"It was just nice to put one in the net early in the game and have everyone settle down a bit," Fredonia coach Jeff Walker said. "It was a great team effort by everyone."

Lang's first goal was assisted by Pat McCarthy and Saeli's second was again set up by Civilette.

The final Fredonia goal was unassisted by Lang in the second half.

Nick Hart was called on to make just three saves to preserve the shutout.

"We've done a great job of possessing the ball all season long," Walker added. "Today we were able to finish on some of our chances."

Playoff qualifiers begin on Monday, but Fredonia's first playoff game won't be until Wednesday against an undetermined opponent.
