Silver Creek knights outstanding students

SILVER CREEK - Silver Creek High School announces September's Knights of the Month.

The first Knight of the Month is Emily Berek. Emily is the ninth-grade daughter of Brian and Linda Berek of Sheridan. Emily's hobbies include piano lessons and her Key Club membership. She also enjoys watching sports, reading, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. Emily plans to attend college after graduation. Emily is currently taking three honors classes at Silver Creek. Her nomination came from Mr. Gallivan, a veteran earth science teacher. Gallivan described Emily as a student who "leads by example" through her strong academic effort and polite and friendly demeanor.

The second Knight of the Month is James Gardner. James is the eleventh-grade son of James Sr. and the late Tanya Gardner. Since the start of this program, James has been nominated each year and was the September 2011 Knight of the Month. This month, James was nominated by Mr. Buczkowski, his United States History teacher.

According to Buczkowski, "James is one of the nicest students I've ever had and he also excels academically."

James participates in many varsity sports, band and chorus. He plans to attend Syracuse University upon graduation to major in music composition.

"I just like being the nicest guy everybody knows," James said.

The Knight of the Month is a student who is nominated by a member of the Silver Creek High School faculty based on many qualities, such as dedication, extracurricular involvement, leadership, and behavioral and academic performance.
