BUFFALO - No. 16 Fredonia threw a monkey wrench into the Section 6 Class C volleyball playoff picture with its stunning win over No. 1 City Honors on Thursday.
After losing the first set 23-25, the Lady Hillbillies (1-11, 5-15) stormed back for three straight wins, 25-15, 25-18, 25-20.
Maddie Crandall was constantly in the heart of the action with 22 assists and five aces.
Emily Ludwig and Makenzie Tarnowski combined for 12 kills and five blocks while Lea Richir and Alyssa Crespo teamed up for another 12 kills.
Margaret Wright was a defensive stalwart with 12 digs while also adding to the attack with four kills.
Fredonia advances to take on CCAA Division 1 rival No. 9 Southwestern (14-5), Tuesday. Southwestern beat No. 8 Akron in five sets, Thursday.

No. 8 Dunkirk stayed on a roll with a convincing sweep of No. 9 Maryvale, Thursday in Section 6 Class B volleyball action.
A day after beating Maple Grove, the Lady Marauders won with game scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-21.
Lacey Clark had a great all-around game for Dunkirk. She recorded six aces, two kills, 17 assists, two blocks and three digs.
Khee Nance was fantastic also with two aces, nine kills, 10 digs and a block. Sarah Hanlon added two aces and seven kills while Lashonda Moreland chipped in five digs and four kills.
Dunkirk will take on No. 1 Olean, Monday.

No. 8 Pine Valley 25 25 30
No. 9 West Valley 9 9 28
SOUTH DAYTON - No. 8 Pine Valley breezed by No. 9 West Valley in straight sets, Thursday in Section 6 Class D-2 pre-quarterfinal volleyball action.
Pine Valley won by scores of 25-9, 25-9, 30-28.
Kayla Mansfield was dynamic for the Lady Panthers with 11 kills, 12 assists and three aces. She was buoyed by Laurel Killock's three aces and six kills, Casey Aber's five kills and Ahleen Pollock's 12 assists.
West Valley was led by four kills, two aces and nine digs from Stephanie Schweickert.
Pine Valley now has a tough task at hand as it will travel to play No. 1 Ellicottville on Tuesday.
