Home improvement services available for rural county residents

October 27, 2012
The OBSERVER

Home improvement and repair services are available through Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. for county residents living outside city limits who meet income guidelines.

The Housing Preservation Grant is sponsored by the USDA Rural Development Department to support homeowners living in rural America. Eligible projects include a wide-range of home improvements including structural repairs, windows, siding, roofing, heating systems, septic and wells.

"The upside of this service is we can do a significant amount of rehab work for rural county residents," COI Housing Rehabilitation Manager Jesse Loomis said. "We can help those who are really struggling and cannot make the repairs themselves. This program ends in December, so we encourage all residents living in rural areas of the county to call right away to see if they qualify for services."

Rural county residents may call 366-8176 in Dunkirk and 661-9430 in Jamestown and ask to speak with a navigator.
