PERSIA - The town of Persia may not be making progress in regards to the intermunicipal sewer and water agreement.

The town has been working on implementing a sewer and water district and entering into contract with the village of Gowanda. Town Supervisor Mel LeBar reported on letter received from town attorney Gregory Yaw at the monthly town board meeting. The town received an agreement from Gowanda on which Yaw commented.

According to Yaw, the agreement is more extensive and complicated than he has seen in his experience. Yaw said the town cannot justify the expense for 14 domestic users, the town cannot assume liabilities and potential liabilities and risks of the proposed agreement.

The town would enter into a simple agreement with the village. Yaw will be in contact with the town board after he is in contact with the village.

In other matters, Town Clerk Denise Trumpore asked the board for approval for a town website through Southern Tier West. The initial cost would be $250 for the setup and design then $150 annually. The town board decided to table the matter.
