JCC announces new faculty members

Several individuals joined Jamestown Community College's faculty at the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses this fall.

Amanda Bartels, a mathematics instructor on the Cattaraugus County Cam-pus, earned a master's degree in education at the State University of New York at Albany. Most recently she worked as an adjunct instructor at Niagara County Community College, Erie Community College and Niagara University.

Maryam El-Shall, assistant professor of English on the Jamestown Campus, holds a doctorate and a master's degree in comparative literature from the University of California at Irvine as well as a master's degree in English from the University of Florida. She taught previously at the University of Florida and the University of California at Irvine.

Francis LaChappelle, an instructor and coordinator of human services on the Cattaraugus County Cam-pus, has a master's degree in counseling psychology from St. Bonaventure. He was an adjunct human services and psychology instructor on the Cattaraugus County Cam-pus for nine years and also worked for the last decade as a multi-systemic therapist at Catholic Charities in Olean.

Linda Larkin, associate professor and director of libraries for JCC, earned a master's degree in library service at Columbia Univer-sity and a doctorate in public policy and administration at Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to her appointment to JCC's faculty, Larkin most was director of library services at North Country Community Col-lege. Other previous experience includes serving as director of the Riddle Center at Danville Community College and as dean of learning resources at Germanna Community College.

Sean Nowling, assistant professor of physics on the Jamestown Campus, earned a doctorate in physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He conducted research at Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics in Sweden.
