Cassadaga Job Corps will host tour and
informational meeting
A tour and informational session will be held at the Cassadaga Job Corps Academy, 8115 Glasgow Road, Thursday at 10 a.m.
Anyone interested in learning more about Job Corps, the programs they offer and about life on campus is welcome to attend. Job Corps provides young people, age 16-24, with career technical training and the education needed to enter a career in a high demand occupation.
Applicants must meet federal admissions criteria for income and readiness. All students accepted attend Job Corps on a full scholarship and must remain committed to a rigorous education and training program to remain enrolled.
Cassadaga Job Corps offers training in the healthcare and construction industries and enrolls both residential and non-residential students from throughout Chautauqua County. Portland Fire District Commissioners to meet
The Board of Commiss-ioners of the Portland Fire District will hold a special meeting on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. for the purpose of any business that may come before the Board.
Turkey party/gun and bow raffle Nov. 10
The Cassadaga Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual turkey party/gun and bow raffle on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m., 22 Mill St,, Cassadaga. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. They can be purchased at the door or from fire department personnel on Tuesday evenings at the fire hall. Prizes will include a Mossberg 500 Combo 12 ga., a High Country Power Extreme Bow and a $50 SureFine gift certificate.

Portland Planning Board meeting canceled
The Town of Portland's Planning Board meeting today at 7:30 p.m. has been canceled due to the weather. The next meeting is Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Gas prices fall
Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 6.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.93/g Sunday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 9.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.56/g, according to gasoline price website RochesterGasPrices.com.
