Evening, matinee performances set for ‘Legally Blonde: The Musical’

JAMESTOWN - "Legal-ly Blonde: The Musical, the fall production of the Jamestown Community College Uncommoners, opens at 8 p.m. Friday in JCC's Scharmann Theatre.

Tickets are available for 8 p.m. performances on Nov. 3, 9-10, and 15-17. Matinee performances will be staged at 2 p.m. on Nov. 4 and 11.

Presale ticket prices are $16, general admission, $14, area students and senior citizens, and $8, JCC Faculty Student Association members. At the door prices are $18, general admission, $16, area students and senior citizens, and $10, FSA members.

A portion of ticket sales will benefit the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign.

Tickets can be obtained by calling JCC's box office, 338.1187, or visiting campusstore.sunyjcc.edu.

The cast includes JCC students Carl Brewer, Amanda Wickmark, Kari Ames, Hillary Belin, Amanda Campbell, Jennie Cross, Caitlin Cusimano, Breontai Gates, Karimah Rahman, Brian Swartzwelder, Eva VanRusso, Caitlin Clark, Michael Correy, Michael Giambelluca, Daman Holland, Matt Warren, Teal Weatherley, and Remington Whitcomb.

The musical, directed by Robert Schlick, also features area community members Skip Anderson, Logan Norris Beard, Kristina Benson, Tyler DeJoe, Crin Fredrickson, Destiny Gates, Josh Hutchinson, Russell D. Lee, Nathan Meleen, and Lauren Scharf and JCC employees Don Hill and Lindsey Kaufman.

"Roxie," a Chihuahua owned by Cathy Belin, will portray Elle Woods' dog, "Bruiser." "Emily," an English Bulldog owned by Susan Walters and Dave Swart, will portray Paulette the hairdresser's dog, "Rufus."

Legally Blonde: The Musical is about a sweetheart of a girl who wants to be a lawyer. Even though she is looked down on as silly and not lawyer material, she doesn't take no for an answer, doesn't give up, and goes on to succeed.

When Legally Blonde: The Musical played on Broadway, it earned two Tony award nominations, a Drama Desk award, and Outer Critics Award nominations.
