Chadwick Bay group to meet at The White Inn on Nov. 8
The Chadwick Bay Regional Development Corporation has announced its next meeting is Nov. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the White Inn in Fredonia.
Guest speaker Kyle Wilber of the NYS Department of State will be speaking about the grant funding opportunities available through the Local Government Efficiency program.
As a follow-up to the community meeting held Oct. 11 at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk, updates about the progress of the regional water system initiative will be presented.
As an open meeting of Chadwick Bay RDC, members of the public are encouraged to attend and may address the board during the privilege of the floor portion of the meeting. JCC, SUNY?Freedonia transfer agreements
Transfer articulation agreements for several bachelor's degree programs have been signed by Jamestown Community College and the State University of New York at Fredonia representatives.
JCC students who graduate with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree and a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 from all colleges attended are guaranteed acceptance, with junior standing, into SUNY Fredonia's audio/radio production, communication studies, journalism, media management, public relations, and video production degree programs.
Students who complete specified courses as part of their associate's degree can generally complete the bachelor's degree in four semesters at SUNY Fredonia. SUNY Fredonia will accept up to 75 credit hours toward requirements for the bachelor's degree.

Change in venue
for Children's Concert Series Saturday
Please note that due to unavoidable circumstances, there has been a change in venue for the Children's Concert Series performances on Saturday.
Both Saturday morning performances (10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.) have been moved to room 1075 Mason Hall (Robert and Marilyn Maytum music rehearsal halls) on the SUNY Fredonia campus. These events are free and open to the community and will feature African Drumming Ensemble students.
City leaf pickup sweep begins on Monday
The City of Dunkirk Department of Public Works announces that leaf pickup will begin with a citywide sweep beginning Monday.
Leaves can be in bags or barrels or loose at the curb. If leaves are left loose at the curb, residents are asked to keep leaves clear of receivers and utility poles and out of the street.
Leaves in bags or barrels will be picked up first and a crew will follow to pick up the loose leaves.
Ripley travel advisory
The New York State Department of Transporta-tion Thursday announced that effective immediately, NY Route 76, between Side Hill Road and Greenbush Road, in the town of Ripley, Chautauqua County, will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic, due to a slope failure. Traffic will be controlled using temporary traffic signals. The repair of the slope failure will last about six weeks.
This work is weather sensitive and may be delayed by inclement weather.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
