The Fredonia State hockey team plays host to Morrisville State this weekend. The Devils are 1-1 in SUNYAC play and are looking to make a statement in the young season. Overall, they stand at 2-2.
After falling to Geneseo last Friday 8-1, the defense regrouped and pitched a shutout over Brockport the following night. Junior netminder Mark Friesen made 25 saves as the Devils made an early goal by senior Mat Hehr stand up in a 1-0 victory.
"It is key for us to continue to pick up momentum as the season goes on and we look to carry some of it from our shut out win over Brockport last Saturday night," said head coach Jeff Meredith.

"We have had a good week of practice and I think we are getting closer to all of us fitting into our roles."
The Mustangs enter the fray at 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the SUNYAC. The have given up 21 goals in their first three contests. They did score five goals in their most recent game, a 9-5 loss to Potsdam.
The Devils swept the season series a year ago, winning by scores of 5-1 and 5-2.
The puck drops at 7 p.m. in the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
